Greetings, Par-T-On Members,
As we approach the year’s end, I’d like to update everyone on what’s happening in our club and on the Bali golfing scene.

With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Morrie Thornley, a beloved friend to all and respected member of our community. Morrie’s kindness, humor, and love of golf made a lasting impact on everyone he met.
Funeral and Cremation Service was held, Oct 31st 2024 in Bali at the Krematorium Yayasan Dharma Kusuma

Golfing in Bali’s Wet Season
From November through April, Bali transforms under the tropical rains, enhancing the beauty and challenge of our courses. The heaviest rains are typically in December through March, with short but intense downpours often followed by sunshine. Waterproof clothing, umbrellas, and good-grip shoes are essential to handle the season’s conditions.

Answer to the picture quiz from last addition
The Picture of the golf hole, for those who had the privilege of playing on the course and guessed it correctly without cheating, was Nirwana’s 12th Hole.

Nirwana Bali Golf Club was designed by Greg Norman with Bob Harrison and opened in 1997. Nirwana Golf Club features dramatic sea views and lush Balinese landscapes. Nirwana Bali’s 18-hole golf course is one of the most photographed and challenging golf courses in the world. The breathtaking beauty of Nirwana Bali Golf course, which overlooks the Tanah Lot Temple, is highlighted by terraced rice fields forming some of the rough and strategically placed bunkers. Nirwana is a 6805 yard par 72 championship golf course. In 2015 Donald Trump licensed his name to the Nirwana Golf Resort in Bali. At the time, the hotel and resort was a 6-star designation and was coined as the business tycoon’s ‘dream project’. However, As of 31st July 2017, Pan Pacific Nirwana Bali Resort and the Golf Course ceased operation, the resort as a whole has been left to ruin to this day.

Last Additions Answer to What’s the oldest golf course in the world? True, The Old Course at St Andrews Links

Saint Andrews Links located in the town of St Andrews, Fife, Scotland, is widely recognized as the “home of golf.” Golf was played upon the Links at St Andrews as far back as the early 15th century. The oldest course at the Saint Andrews Links is known as the Old Course. Archbishop Hamilton’s Charter in 1552 is the earliest documentary evidence that allowed the people of St Andrews to play golf on the Links. The charter is principally a license to allow Archbishop Hamilton to breed rabbits on the links but the document also allows them to continue the “playing at golf.
